Jackie Phillips

Jackie (Donovan) Phillips was named Lourdes University's women's head soccer coach in November of 2014, with the charge of starting the program for the 2015 season.


Phillips enters her eighth season with the Gray Wolves in 2022 with a 53-70-17 record at Lourdes and as a women’s collegiate head coach. In 2019 and 2021, Phillips was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Champions of Character Coach.


Since arriving at Lourdes, Phillips has produced three First Team All-WHAC honorees, a pair of Second Team All-WHAC players, and an Honorable Mention All-WHAC selection as well as nine All-Newcomer Team selections. In 2021, Phillips guided the WHAC Newcomer of the Year.


In addition, Phillips has had 15 players earn WHAC Player of the Week accolades with the program producing its first NAIA National Player of the Week in 2021. Three of her players have been selected to the All-Ohio Team.


Phillips’ student-athletes have also seen success in the classroom under her guidance. One of her student-athletes was named to the CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-American Second Team in 2019 and Phillips has had five CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-District First Team honorees. She has had 50 players named to the WHAC All-Academic Team while 40 were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Lourdes women’s soccer has also been named a NAIA Scholar Team six times under her guidance.


During her time with the Gray Wolves, Phillips has led the team to six WHAC tournament appearances, advancing to the semifinals for the first time in 2022.


Phillips arrived at Lourdes from Adrian College where she was the associate women’s head coach and head reserve coach for four seasons. The Bulldogs won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular season championship in 2011 while producing a Third Team All-American, the first in program history. The Bulldogs had three MIAA Players of the Year during her tenure at the school as well.


Before arriving at Adrian, Phillips served as the graduate assistant at Frostburg State University for two years. She also spent one season as the school’s women’s club coach.


Prior to her coaching days at Frostburg State, Phillips played for the Bobcats, where she garnered All-AMCC honors as both a sophomore and junior and helped the Bobcats to an NCAA Division III tournament appearance in 2005.


Phillips has experience as a club coach as well, working on staff for Michigan ODP. Previously, she worked with Pacesetter Soccer Club, where her teams advanced to the State Cup semifinal and championship rounds. She was also a part of the coaching staff for the inaugural season of the Toledo Villa FC women’s team, which participated in the United Women’s Soccer League.


She holds licenses from both the United States Soccer Coaches Association and the United States Soccer Federation.


Phillips is a 2009 graduate of Frostburg State with a degree in communication studies. She earned her master’s degree from Frostburg State in 2011 in business administration.

Matty Brown

Matty Brown was named an assistant coach for the Lourdes University men’s soccer program in August of 2022 and joined the women’s program as an assistant coach during the summer of 2023.


In his first season on the bench of the men’s program, Brown helped produce a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week. The men also had six players named to the WHAC All-Academic Team as well as six honored as NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The program also had three College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selections


Brown arrived at Lourdes from Spring Arbor University, where he was an assistant coach and head reserve coach for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The 2020 squad qualified for the NAIA National Championships, but its opening round match was cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols.


Prior to Spring Arbor, Brown was an assistant coach for two seasons at the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) where he began his collegiate coaching career.


Brown also serves as the head soccer coach for Livonia FC, a position he began in 2021.


A four-year player at Spring Arbor during his collegiate days, Brown scored a goal and added two assists over his career with the Cougars.


Brown is a 2017 graduate of Spring Arbor with a degree in broadcast journalism.
